Just cuz you're not into girly stuff doesn't mean that self-care isn't for you.

For years, social media made it seem that getting your nails & hair done was the only form of self-care.

For years, I bought into that narrative. It's self-care!  I deserve it.

See, even when I got my hair or nails done once in a while, I still was reacting, getting triggered, & there was never enough me time between getting my hair and nails done.

I didn't understand why it wasn't helping as everyone swore by.

Finally, I decided to do something differently. Really, it wasn't a decision. My healing journey created the shift.

When I started my healing journey, the whole idea of self-care shifted for me.

So, I began with a self-care morning routine. I started with journaling.

I went through the same things my clients do. I was inconsistent, had nothing to write about, & was afraid to put my thoughts down.

You name it, I went through it, too, until it became natural, until it became my self-discipline practice. (BTW, I have a masterclass that you can dive into to easily create self-discipline. You can take the training here.)

I learned a lot since my healing journey brought this self-discipline into my life.

A lot about myself, my triggers, my thoughts & the emotions that I was dealing with.

Finally, I learned one of the biggest things about self-care. It shifted so much that I always share it with my clients.

It wasn't about doing girly things.

It was about feeling regulated to take on the day. To respond to life rather than react.

I realized that getting my hair & nails done was fun. It felt so damn good. But it was regulating my nervous system. It wasn't helping me respond to life.

It was helping me with my confidence, & I am all for it. But I needed something stronger in between that time.

After years of doing my morning routine, I noticed that I would be so much more responsive.

After having a child & not making time for self-care, I learned that it was necessary so that I could respond & hold space for my child.

The self-care routine that you desire to create isn't about girly. It's about you. It's about purpose. If you want to create a purposeful self-care routine, check out this YouTube video here. I dive deep into creating a self-care routine with purpose in mind.

When my clients tell me I don't have time. I don't do girly things. I get that they're under the social media influence of what self-care is. This change isn't scary at all.

It's rewarding right away. It's worth it. Self-care daily allows you to respond to life.

You might be thinking well, yeah, but I need more accountability with doing my routine. Maybe you're like my clients who hesitate to put themselves first. Or you might be working on self-care but don't do it consistently. If this is relatable, join the Community Made: Activation Circle Membership. You get meditations, journal prompts & coaching.

You might also be thinking what my clients think: I don't have time for self-care! I got you. I have a 15-minute meditation that resets you & relieves stress! You can grab it for free here.

Remember that self-care is about feeling regulated to respond to life rather than react.
